This painting is part of a series of works on the constellations. The terrestrial world exists alongside the mystical celestial world. In our daily lives, the earthly world appears to us with obviousness. In the same way, the scarlet silhouette of a cow returning home under the night sky catches our eye. A warm light seems to emanate from it, illuminating the darkness. But a closer look reveals mysteries in the starry sky.
I am inspired by the colour and texture of paysan wooden sculptures. From this comes a fiery red, a deep dark background and a warm brown on which the colours shine within.
