Skol ar mor means in Breton “School of the sea”. It is the name of the traditional wood boat building school, located in Mesquer, on the Brittany coast.
Once, I spent four beautiful days there, trying to capture in my sketchbook and with my camera this extraordinary universe.
The people who work and study there are so beautiful in their mastery, their love for their work as well as in their human qualities. They are passionate about their profession, welcoming and ready to help at any time. In Skol ar mor everything is covered with sun-colored wood shavings, all work selflessly and support each other.
This universe inspired me to suggest in this book the similarity between the construction of the ship and that of the cathedral, through the effects of light.
