Stella Maris is a Latin expression designated the Pole Star, the directing star of sailors. The book is inspired by the memories of one of our little sea trips, accompanied by the sounds of the accordion and the songs of French sailors, under the light of the stars which are so clearly visible in Brittany, far from big cities. One evening, one of us was repairing a marine compass, carefully holding it in his hands, tanned by the sun and the sea winds. The beauty of his gesture gave me desire to draw it. I wanted to combine this memory with the theme of light and of the search for a path in harmony with natural forces.
