About
When I arrived in 2009 in Lanzhou, a large city located right in the middle of China, I was struck by the strong presence of this orange colour in an atmosphere of smog hiding the sun and washing out all the colours.
The orange colour of the mighty flow of the Yellow River, as thick as carrot mash, was reflected in the scales of goldfish exposed on large round jars in all public places.
The orange colour of the Yellow River, enigmatic, inexplicable, and much more flamboyant than one could imagine was far from being a mere metaphor.
