This painting on paper was created during the artist’s trip to Tunisia. The houses of Sidi Bou Saïd, which combine Arab and Andalusian architecture, with their bright white exteriors and blue doors, are scattered along the winding streets on a cliff overlooking the sea.
The blue of the airy moucharabiehs seems to come directly from the cobalt blue and ultramarine tones of the sky. Everything is bathed in light, jubilating the beauty of the landscape and the joy of living.
