About
Polyptych composed of 17 parts. Dedicated to Yuri Gagarin.
This artwork reflects on a new perception of the Universe that Humanity discovered after the first flight of humans in space. This new perception consists of new Spatio-temporal cartography, as well as the discovery of new proprioceptive, visual and emotional experiences during space flights. That new point of view also reveals new responsibilities to humankind regarding the stakes of ecology and the effect of human activity, thought to be invisible until then. That global knowledge raises mankind to a higher level of consciousness, bringing him maybe closer to its creator, but unmistakably closer to his duties in his struggle for survival. The three central parts of the polyptych evoke the nature of Daedalus, the image of aerospace research and construction; the new Icarus, symbolizing the flight of the first astronaut; and Jacob’s ladder, a metaphor for the idea of the bridge between sky and earth.
