About
“Oh Peter’s city, flaunt yourself…”
Design, project development and creation of a monumental panel for interior decor of the Professor’s cafeteria in a historical building of Herzen State Pedagogical University, Saint Petersburg. 3.1 x 8.8 meters, Texture plaster, acrylic colours, MDF panels. In collaboration with T. Syrovatskaya, I. Tugolukov, S. Ulisko.
The panel depicts personalities from the history of the 18th century in St. Petersburg, as well as crucial elements of the city’s architecture and naval history.
The aim was to create a painting that was in keeping with the architectural style of the building and with the existing murals in its other halls.
The title of the painting is a quote from a narrative poem by Alexander Pushkin (1833) about the equestrian statue of Peter the Great in Saint Petersburg and the great flood of 1824.
